Emergency AWS recovery during the UAE outage.

Jaree is a CMA-regulated VC matchmaking platform connecting Saudi startups with accredited investors, syndicates and family offices. During a March 2026 UAE Availability Zone impairment, the platform required urgent recovery while active investment workflows were in progress.

The challenge

What had to change.

The ECS Fargate application became unreachable during the impairment. Although Aurora Multi-AZ failed over, service re-registration created an interruption beyond tolerance. The event also exposed the absence of a cross-region disaster recovery plan and a need for stronger long-term retention controls for financial records.

Our solution

How Ghaim approached it.

Ghaim worked with Jaree’s CTO during the active incident and moved the workload to eu-central-1 (Frankfurt), then hardened the recovered platform for future incidents.

  1. Deployed the target VPC and ECS environment in Frankfurt using Infrastructure as Code.
  2. Restored and synchronized the Aurora PostgreSQL database using snapshot and replication patterns.
  3. Redeployed ECS Fargate services and validated application health before DNS cutover.
  4. Added CloudFront and AWS WAF for edge protection and performance.
  5. Implemented AWS Backup Vault Lock with seven-year WORM retention and a secondary cross-region backup copy.
  6. Enforced MFA with Amazon Cognito and standardized infrastructure in CloudFormation.
